A manual pen test that finds what scanners miss.
Manual-first, not a scanner dump
Web, API, and mobile assessments built on OWASP methodology, with the manual time spent where automation is blind — chained logic flaws, broken access control, and abuse of the way your app actually works.
Findings you can act on
Every issue arrives with a working proof-of-concept, a severity you can defend to your board, and remediation guidance written for the engineer who has to fix it — not a raw export with a logo on it.
Fixed price, retest included
Most application tests run two to four weeks at a fixed price. When your team ships the fixes, we retest the findings and confirm each one is closed — so a passed report means something.
The problem: a green scanner is not a secure application
Automated scanning tells you which known-CVE boxes you failed. It does not tell you whether an attacker can escalate one user’s session into another’s, move money through a workflow that was never meant to allow it, or reach an internal API through a client the front end trusts. Those are business-logic and access-control flaws — the ones that cause real breaches — and finding them is a human job, done by people who attack applications for a living.
This is application penetration testing from the offensive-security side of KnytX. It sits alongside our hardware security and incident response practices, and it is the software-surface counterpart to the deeper work — when a device’s threat model reaches below the application, the same team goes silicon-deep. Browse the full services hub for how the engagements fit together, or map it from the problem side at find and fix vulnerabilities.
Engagement scope
A pen test is scoped to your architecture, not sold as a one-size package. A typical engagement covers one or more of:
- Web applications — authenticated and unauthenticated testing, session and access-control review, injection and business-logic abuse.
- APIs — REST and GraphQL surfaces, authorization boundaries, rate-limit and object-level access checks.
- Mobile apps — iOS and Android client review, transport and storage handling, and the server endpoints the app talks to.
- Network and infrastructure — external and internal perimeter, segmentation, and the paths an attacker chains to reach your crown jewels.
We agree the targets, the rules of engagement, and the test window with you before anything starts.
Methodology
Testing follows an OWASP-aligned methodology — the OWASP Testing Guide for web and the OWASP MASVS for mobile — but the value is in the manual work layered on top. We map your application’s real trust boundaries, then spend the engagement trying to cross them the way a motivated attacker would: chaining low-severity issues into a real compromise, abusing intended features, and probing the logic that automated tools have no model for.
Deliverables
You receive a written report with an executive summary a non-technical stakeholder can read, a prioritized findings list ordered by real-world risk, and for each finding a working proof-of-concept plus remediation guidance aimed at the engineer who owns the fix. After your team remediates, a retest confirms each finding is closed and updates the report accordingly.
Timeline
Most application penetration tests run two to four weeks at a fixed price, agreed during scoping. Larger or multi-surface engagements are scoped and priced the same way. Because this is consulting, the path to start is a scoping conversation, not a checkout — request a quote and we’ll propose a scope and fixed price within one week.
